The 18-piece Columbia Jazz Orchestra has played classic and contemporary big-band jazz in Columbia, Missouri, since 2014. We come from different day jobs and different backgrounds, united by one thing: a love of this music, and the itch to play it for you live.
We rehearse on Monday nights and play the last Monday of every month at Broadway Brewery. Grab a table, order a pint, stay for both sets.
And the band keeps good company. On International Jazz Day 2025, the “We Always Swing” Jazz Series put us on the Missouri Theatre stage with alto legend Bobby Watson — out front and directing an evening of his own music. The rest of the year, the book stays stocked with originals written for the band and fresh arrangements from MU School of Music students.
